Sword Buyers Digest, Issue #006 - Gen2! June 30, 2006 |
Hi, Welcome to the July 2006 edition of the Sword Buyers Digest.
Lots to get through this issue, and as usual the juiciest stuff is in this months edition of the members lounge (including the long awaited interview with Clyde Hollis from Generation 2!), so let's cut through the 'blah, blah, blah' and get right into it! :-) SITE NEWS First off (and I couldn't have timed this much better if I tried), some great news for everyone who has been waiting for the Cheness 9260 Tenchis and Shuras...!
That's right - the shipment just cleared US customs and Paul Chen and his team are preparing all the backorders to send out immediately! Plus another benefit of this latest shipment is a new and improved tsuka wrap!
In other general site news, I've just in the last week or so arranged a special deal with Canadian based sword selling powerhouse Reliks Swords and Collectibles to give all my visitors a special coupon code that will automatically deduct 10% off any and all Windlass Steelcrafts Swords in the checkout!
VID OF THE MONTH Cheness Cutlery Prototype Testing A bit of a sneak preview of three new Cheness Cutlery prototypes being tested by Paul Chen and some of his friends, including the massive 33" O-Katana, the longer 30" 9260 Katana and the Specialized Goza Cutter (SGC). Of course, not all cuts went as planned and this clip certainly has its funny moments too! :-)
Look out for these new swords later in the year.. INTERESTING FORUM POSTS Sword Horror Stories - Ow! Be Careful out there!!

Not so much a forum post - but a report from the Atlanta Blade Show!
THE MEMBERS LOUNGE July's password to this month’s edition of the MEMBERS LOUNGE is, appropriately enough: gen2 (one word, lower case and no-spaces!)
In it you'll find a transcript of the long awaited interview with Clyde Hollis from Generation 2, where Clyde talks about the evolution of his forge from the mid 1990s, sheds some light on the production processes used and unveils some exciting new developments to this line up of 'tough as nails' swords including better geometry and handling, a mirror polish and numerous other improvements - as well as hinting at some new products in the works such as rapiers, katana and more! Very interesting reading, plus there is the usual mix of competitions and other bits and pieces. See you in the lounge! Until next time, stay safe and have fun with swords! ;-) |
